5 Valentine’s Day Makeup Looks to Try

When February 14th rolls around, lovers and friends often gift one another chocolates, flowers, stuffed animals, and other tokens of their affection in honor of the Hallmark holiday, Valentine’s Day. And while these are all fantastic ways to show your love for those you hold near and dear on this fated mid-February day, you might be looking for another way to express your affections–and yourself–on the annual day of love.

Whether you’ve got a big date on the horizon, a Galentine’s Day gathering, or are planning on just treating yourself, you might need some beauty inspo. Luckily, we’ve got you covered! Below, we’ve detailed five lovely makeup looks for you to try out this Valentine’s Day. Read on for more!

1. A Pop of Pink: For a subtle, baby-doll look, add a touch of a pale or baby pink shadow to your eyelids, carrying the shadow over to your lower lash line. Then, consider adding a similar pale pink shade to the apples of your cheeks and the top of your nose, and finish off the look with a swipe of mascara and some clear lip gloss.
2. A Classic Red Lip: Nothing says romance like a red lip. Audrey Hepburn once said that “There is a shade of red for every woman.” For those with fair skin and cool undertones, go for a red with cool hues. For medium skin tones, reds with a touch of orange are a great choice. And for dark skin tones, anything from bright red to dark cherry will do. Because this look is about the lip, adopt a “less is more” approach for the rest of your face–and maybe consider popping on a pair of our Level 2 magnetic lashes to finish things off.
3. Reverse Cat Eye: You’ve heard of cat eyeliner; meet her sister, the reverse cat-eye. As opposed to applying your basic winged liner to your upper lid, use a powder or pencil liner to apply it to your lower lash line, flicking upwards once you reach the outer eye contour. To finish off the look, add your favorite shade of lipstick or gloss, and of course, a swipe of mascara or a subtle pair of falsies.
4. Red and Gold: For a look that’s sure to turn heads, play with shades of red and gold. Create a smoky eye with shades of red or pink (depending on your skin tone or preference) and add some flecks of your favorite gold glitter or shadow to the inside corners of your eyes. Check out this look by celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta for some inspiration.
5. Graphic Glitter: Feeling ambitious? Play with some graphic heart-shaped glitter with this last look. Head to the craft store to grab the glitter, then snag an eyeliner in a similar shade. Line your eye to your liking and add a floating line above your lid. Then, use makeup glue to add hearts on top of the lines you’ve drawn.
