How to Make Your Hazel Eyes Pop

Hazel eye-havers, you are some special guys and gals. Hazel eyes are incredibly unique–it's often said that no two pairs are the same. They’re known to change color in the light and are often described as multi-colored with flecks of green, gold, and even blue in them. Even more so, they’re as rare as they come, with only 5 percent of the world’s population having them.

With an eye color as special as this, you’ve likely wondered at least once in your life: how can I best accessorize my hazel eyes? We’ve got three great makeup tips below on how to make your hazel eyes sparkle and shine–read on to learn more!

1. Go for neutrals on the daily: It's always good to have a neutral makeup look in mind for every day, or occasions when you don’t want or need to do a “full” face. For a natural look, go for a matte shadow that is one shade darker than your skin tone, and use a green or brown eyeliner on top. Then, consider adding a pop of cream blush in your favorite shade–peaches and light pinks complement hazel eyes well. When you’re done, add a pair of our level 1 lashes to complete the look without overwhelming it.

2. Play up the sparkle in your eye: Hazel eyes often have glints and glimmers of other colors, like green, gold, and blue. Take some time to look at your eyes and identify these colors–then, compliment them with a swipe of eyeshadow. You can match the flecks with a glittery gold shadow or choose a complementary color – consider a shade of purple or mauve for gold, pinks and blushes for green, and peach for yellow. Then, add a pair of our level 2 lashes to complete the look!

3. Take it to the next level: Makeup artist Quinn Murphy says “If you have hazel eyes, reach for rich, autumnal colors like browns, golds, and greens.” Consider taking the above look to the next level by going monotone–for instance, if you have glints of gold in your eye, go for a bold gold sparkly shadow and a pop of cheek highlight for a bronzed, sun kissed look. For green, play with shades of moss, ivy, and olive, and add a bold liner in a shade one darker. And of course, add a pair of our level 3 lashes to make your eyes pop and your shadow shine!
